Johannesburg Water is hiring 10 x Artisan Bricklayers for a 12-month contract.

Remuneration: R366 144 per annum

Job Overview:

As an Artisan Bricklayer at Johannesburg Water, your primary role will be to carry out bricklaying, paving, and concrete work in and around water and sewer network infrastructure. You will be responsible for various tasks such as constructing walls, chambers, culverts, hydrant boxes, and performing maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily submission of job cards, check sheets, and overtime sheets.
• Vehicle inspection sheets and logbooks submission on a weekly basis.
• Enforcing safety procedures according to OHASA, SANS, and Johannesburg Water policies.
• Risk assessments before entering excavations and ensuring safety at all times.
• Assisting in the development of personnel and maintaining industrial relations.
• Maintaining good communication and relations with the public.
• Constructing and repairing brick structures including walls, pillars, steps, culverts, and meter boxes.
• Performing tasks like plastering, tiling, excavation, and concrete mixing.
• Completing building maintenance tasks for depot buildings.
• Ensuring safety and proper excavation practices when shoring and backfilling.

Job Requirements:

• Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Grade 10 or N1 (NQF2) + Bricklaying trade test certificate / Learnership NQF 4.
  • At least 3 years of experience in bricklaying, building, and paving (bricks and concrete).
  • Basic supervisory experience.
  • A valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP.
