About the Knysna Municipality Bursary Programme
The bursary aims to support students from the Knysna area who are studying or intend to study in fields that are in high demand. Successful applicants will receive financial assistance for a range of academic expenses to ease their educational journey.
Expenses Covered by the Bursary:
The bursary will cover the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees (partial coverage)
- Book allowance (up to a specified amount)
- Examination fees
- Accommodation costs (if you can prove you need it)
The bursary funds will be paid directly to your tertiary institution, ensuring that all your academic-related costs are handled smoothly.
Selection Criteria:
The bursary awards will be based on two primary factors:
- Merit – Academic performance will play a crucial role in the selection process.
- Financial need – Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial hardship, ensuring that support is provided to those who need it most.

Eligibility Requirements:
To apply for the Knysna Municipality Bursary Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship – Only South African citizens are eligible.
- Residency – You must reside within the Greater Knysna Municipal Area, in the Western Cape.
- Completed Matric – You must have completed your Matric (Grade 12).
- Field of Study – You must be studying or intending to study full-time towards a qualification in a scarce skills sector such as Engineering or Science in 2025.
- Accredited Institution – Your studies must be at a SAQA accredited tertiary or TVET institution in South Africa.
- Financial need – Preference will be given to students from historically disadvantaged communities and those with financial need.

- Download and complete the Knysna Municipality Bursary Application Form 2025. Ensure all sections are filled out accurately.
- Provide clear copies of the following documents (certified copies are required):
- ID document
- Curriculum Vitae and a cover letter
- Matric results/certificate
- Latest college/university results (if currently studying)
- Proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution for 2025
