Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A three-year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6) or higher
- Compulsory registration with SACNASP
- A valid driver’s licence
- No prior work experience required
Knowledge, Competencies and Skills
- Knowledge of agricultural extension methodology
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic reporting and public speaking skills
- Understanding of group dynamics
- Ability to work directly with farmers and communities
- Willingness to conduct physical farm and project visits
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will assist with:
- Rendering general agricultural advice to internal and external clients
- Supporting food security initiatives, agricultural projects, and land development programmes
- Demonstration of farming methods and sustainable resource use
- Conducting farm visits, extension surveys, and impact assessments
- Assisting with the development of farm business plans
- Organising farmer days, information sessions, and training activities
- Establishing, reviving, and supporting agricultural projects and cooperatives
- Capacity building, aftercare, and training facilitation
- Promoting partnerships with agricultural stakeholders and organised agriculture
- Maintaining farmer databases and extension records
- Compiling and submitting monthly and quarterly reports
- Ensuring compliance with Public Service prescripts and departmental policies
