The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is calling on unemployed residents to apply for its Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES) opportunities under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). These short-term contracts run for 10 months and aim to boost local employment while supporting environmental and agricultural initiatives.

Available Programmes and Positions
1. Urban Vegetable Gardening Project
- Participant – Urban Farmer
- Stipend: R210 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, basic literacy & numeracy, ability to work outdoors, interest in environmental conservation, willingness to train & start a business in 2 months.
- Team Leader – Urban Vegetable Gardening
- Stipend: R270 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, Matric, NQF 5 in agriculture/environment, willingness to train & start a business.
Areas: Bloemfontein (Calib Motshabi), Van Stadensrus, Dewetsdorp, Thaba Nchu Zone 1, Wepener, Botshabelo, Soutpan.
2. Recycling Project
- Participant – Community Recycling & Enterprise Trainee
- Stipend: R210 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, basic literacy & numeracy, interest in waste management, ability to work outdoors, willingness to train & start a business.
- Team Leader – Community Recycling & Enterprise Trainee
- Stipend: R270 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, Matric, NQF 5 in waste management/environment.
Areas: Wepener, Bloemfontein, Thaba Nchu, Van Stadensrus, Soutpan, Dewetsdorp, Botshabelo.
3. Small Scale Biogas Project
- Participant – Agricultural Waste Management (Bioconversion)
- Stipend: R210 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, Matric, interest in composting, biogas production, and communal gardening.
- Team Leader – Agricultural Waste Management (Bioconversion)
- Stipend: R270 per day
- Requirements: SA citizen, Matric, NQF 5 in agriculture/environment.
- Administrator – Agricultural Waste Management (Bioconversion)
- Stipend: R300 per day
- Requirements: NQF 5 in office/admin/project management, computer literacy, admin experience advantageous.
Areas: Van Stadensrus, Dewetsdorp, Thaba Nchu (Spitskop, Ratau, Rakhoi), Soutpan, Bloemfontein (Khayelitsha, Phase 7).
General Requirements
- Must be an SA citizen residing in Mangaung Metro.
- Not currently employed or receiving a ward committee stipend.
- Valid SA ID, TAX number, proof of address.
