Metacom Foundation Bursary 2027
The Metacom Foundation is offering bursary funding to previously disadvantaged female students who live in the Western Cape and want to study towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Communication Technology or a related field.
The bursary supports students studying at selected universities in the Western Cape.
Universities Covered
The bursary will fund eligible students studying at:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of the Western Cape (UWC)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Stellenbosch University
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is aimed at students studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in ICT or a related field.
Examples include:
Information and Communication Technology
Computer Science
Electrical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
and other related fields.
What the Metacom Foundation Bursary Covers
The bursary provides comprehensive support and may cover:
- Full tuition costs for the duration of the student’s studies.
- Accommodation.
- Transport.
- Essential daily living needs.
- Ongoing guidance from industry professionals.
- Mentorship through the Metacom Foundation’s โbig sisterโ initiative.
- Personal guidance.
- Health and wellness support sessions.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between 18 and 27 years old.
- Be female.
- Be from a previously disadvantaged background.
- Reside in the Western Cape.
- Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Be studying or planning to study towards a Bachelor’s Degree in ICT or a related field.
- Be studying or planning to study at UCT, UWC, CPUT or Stellenbosch University.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Show academic potential and ambition.
Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and invited to attend an interview.
Applicants who do not receive feedback should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Applicants must submit a completed application form together with the required supporting documents.
These include:
- Completed Metacom Foundation bursary application form.
- Certified copy of ID.
- Certified copy of Matric final results.
- Most recent university transcript, where applicable.
- Proof of parent or guardian household income.
- Latest payslips where applicable.
- Affidavit if unemployed.
- Proof of pension or social grant, where applicable.
- Reference letter, which is optional.
