Job Title: Local Government Accounting Trainee (2 Years Fixed-term Contract)
Job Description: Midvaal Local Municipality is offering a training program for aspiring candidates interested in practical local government accounting. This program aims to provide practical training and experience in local government finance with the potential for future employment. While appointment after training is not guaranteed, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field.
Requirements:
- A three-year bachelor’s degree or National Diploma with majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, and/or Auditing or an equivalent NQF qualification.
- Computer literacy with knowledge of Windows spreadsheet applications.
- Preferably own transport.
- Only unemployed graduates residing within the Midvaal area who meet the requirements will be considered for the position.

Duties:
- Assist with the billing process, including rates and service charges.
- Provide customer care support in the income section, addressing customer queries and complaints.
- Assist with cashiering when required.
- Help complete National Treasury reporting templates.
- Assist with the compilation of reconciliations.
- Perform other administrative functions.
- Assist with expenditure and Supply Chain Management (SCM) related tasks.
- Contribute to asset management functions.
- Assist with risk assessment, insurance claims, and compliance matters.
Salary: R11,247.17 per month (all-inclusive package R134,966.00 per annum) for the 2-year fixed-term contract. No other benefits or allowances will be provided.
