About Modikwa Platinum Mine

Modikwa Platinum Mine operates in partnership with Anglo American and forms part of South Africa’s strategic platinum mining operations. The mine plays a key role in skills development, employment creation, and transformation in line with the Mining Charter and the Employment Equity Act.

Through its Graduate Internship Programme, Modikwa Platinum Mine aims to provide meaningful workplace exposure while building a pipeline of skilled engineers from local and host communities.


About the Graduate Internship Programme

This Graduate Internship Programme is a structured workplace-based opportunity for engineering graduates to gain hands-on experience in core mining operations. The programme focuses on practical exposure, professional development, and alignment with national transformation and skills development priorities.

This is not a SETA learnership, but a direct graduate internship aligned with operational engineering disciplines.


Fields of Study Accepted

Applications are open to graduates who have completed a Diploma or Degree in the following fields:

  • Mining Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

These disciplines are central to mining production, plant maintenance, and engineering systems, ensuring interns gain real operational exposure rather than administrative-only experience.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • South African citizen
  • Unemployed graduate
  • Completed a Diploma or Degree in one of the listed engineering fields
  • Qualification obtained from a registered Higher Education Institution (HET)
  • Valid South African ID
  • Proof of residential address

Preference will be given to applicants from Modikwa Platinum Mine host communities.
