About the Moses Kotane Research Institute
MKRI is a provincial research agency operating under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
The institute focuses on research, innovation and knowledge production that supports policy development and socio-economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal.
The videography experiential learner will support the communications team by producing visual content that helps communicate research findings and institutional activities to the public.

This role offers hands-on experience in digital storytelling, video production and communications.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A minimum NQF Level 7 qualification in:
- Videography
- Applied Arts in Screen Arts and Technology
- Or a related field
Experience:
- 0–2 years experience in videography, editing or video production
Additional Advantage:
- A valid driver’s license
Required Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Proficiency in video editing software
- Strong visual storytelling skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Report writing skills
- Creativity and strong communication abilities
- Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office 365
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Producing professional videography and photography content for MKRI
- Attending and filming events across KwaZulu-Natal
- Editing and publishing video content on social media platforms
- Supporting digital communication campaigns
- Managing video content for institutional visibility
- Assisting with general communications activities
This role provides practical exposure to media production in a professional environment.
