National Treasury Bursaries 2026

The National Treasury invites applications from suitably qualified South African students for the 2026 Bursary Scheme. The programme aims to provide financial support to students pursuing studies in scarce and critical fields that align with the Treasury’s mandate.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the National Treasury Bursary Scheme 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Registered for full-time undergraduate studies at a local accredited University or University of Technology.
  • Achieved an academic average of 65% and above in the latest exams (mid-year/June 2025).
  • Must be in second year of studies or higher.
  • Demonstrate financial need (combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum).
  • Preference will be given to high-performing students with top grades.

Fields of Study Covered

The bursary supports students studying towards qualifications in the following fields:

  • BCom Accounting
  • BCom Economics
  • Diploma in Logistics
  • Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design

What the Bursary Covers

The National Treasury bursary provides funding for:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • Monthly allowance

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Completed application form (available here).
  • Certified copy of South African ID.
  • Grade 12 certificate and statement of results.
  • Official academic transcript (1st year mid-year/June 2025).
  • Certified copies of parent(s)/guardian(s) IDs.
  • Proof of income (salary slips) or affidavit if unemployed.
  • Death certificate if parent(s) are deceased.
  • Affidavit if parent(s) are not in your life.
