SANEDI EPC Skills Development Programme 2026
SANEDI is recruiting 300 learners for the Energy Performance Certificate Skills Development Programme.
The programme forms part of a national initiative aimed at supporting the implementation of Energy Performance Certificate requirements for buildings.
It is coordinated by the Department of Electricity and Energy and Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with SANEDI responsible for implementation through a Programme Management Unit.

Training will take place at participating TVET Colleges in selected provinces.
Applicants are encouraged to apply within their province of residence.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Be unemployed.
- Have Grade 12 / Matric or an NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification.
- Have Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy at Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
- Be willing and available to participate for the full 10-day programme.
Additional Requirements
Applicants should be able to work independently as well as in a team.
Candidates must also be willing to participate in field-based data collection activities where required and be willing to travel or be placed at designated programme locations.
SANEDI reserves the right to place or transfer successful learners based on operational requirements.
What the Training Covers
The 10-day EPC Skills Development Programme will provide learners with foundational knowledge and practical exposure related to Energy Performance Certificates.
Participants will gain exposure to areas such as:
EPC fundamentals
Building information gathering
Energy-performance data collection
Data capturing
Data verification
and
Quality assurance
Opportunity for Further Training
Top-performing learners from the initial programme may be selected for a further 12-month EPC training programme.
This extended training is expected to include both theoretical and practical application of EPC knowledge.
Selection for the 12-month programme is not automatic and will depend on performance.
Career Exposure
Successful learners will gain knowledge that can help them support qualified EPC professionals and energy specialists.
The programme is designed to build skills in collecting, recording, verifying and capturing building and energy-use data for EPC and energy-efficiency assessments.
The skills gained may be relevant to organisations such as energy service companies, energy consulting firms and EPC-related organisations.
