South African National Parks (SANParks) invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for 2 x Skilled Environmental Monitor positions under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) at Groenkloof National Park (Head Office).

Contract Duration: Fixed-term until 31 March 2026
Stipend/Wage: R311.00 per day (as per EPWP rates)
About the Opportunity
This EPWP employment opportunity aims to provide meaningful short-term work experience while enhancing participants’ employability in the environmental sector. The Environmental Monitors will assist in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and operational efficiency within Groenkloof National Park’s head office facilities.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 certificate (Matric).
- 1–2 years’ cleaning experience.
- Experience in stock taking.
- Knowledge of First Aid and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- Good hygiene practices.
- Must be punctual, neat, and responsible.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to comply with OHS regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform the following duties:
- Daily cleaning of offices, ablutions, reception areas, passages, and open areas.
- Preparing boardrooms and meeting areas, including refreshments.
- Reporting abnormalities and ensuring they are rectified.
- Handling lost property in line with established procedures.
- Emptying waste bins and transporting waste materials to collection areas.
- Managing and controlling cleaning materials.
- Maintaining high cleaning standards at all times.
- Assisting during emergencies and relief schedules as required by the supervisor.
- Replenishing consumable items (e.g., toilet paper, towels, soap).
- Assisting with stock issuing, receiving, and stock taking.
- Performing other ad hoc tasks as required by the supervisor.
