SANRAL Scholarships 2026 for South African Learners (Grade 8–12)

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) invites qualifying learners to apply for the SANRAL Scholarship Programme 2026.

About the SANRAL Scholarship Programme

SANRAL is responsible for building and maintaining South Africa’s national roads, and through its scholarship programme, it supports young learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 at registered South African schools, regardless of their subject choices.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to learners and aims to develop future leaders in the country. Learners with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.


What the SANRAL Scholarship Covers

  • School fees (including boarding school fees, if applicable)
  • School and sports uniforms (where applicable)
  • Books and stationery
  • Reputable school transport (if applicable)
  • Extra Maths and Science lessons
  • Registration fees (if applicable)
  • Access to the SANRAL Wellness Programme

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be registered at an endorsed South African school
  • Be in or applying for Grade 8–12 in 2026
  • Achieve a minimum overall average of 60%
  • Have a total household income less than R550,000 per year
  • Complete the online application form fully and upload all required supporting documents

  • From you (2 pages about yourself and why you want the scholarship)
  • From your school

Certified Copies

  • June academic results
  • ID document or birth certificate (learner)
  • ID documents of parents/legal guardian
  • Proof of household income (not older than 3 months)
  • Additional documents where applicable:
    • Death certificate of parent(s) / Social Services letter if orphaned
    • Proof of sibling registration at tertiary institution
    • Divorce decree (if applicable)
    • Marriage certificate (parents or applicant, if applicable)
    • Affidavit for single parents (from Home Affairs)
    • Proof of employment / unemployment / income statements

Important Information

  • Applications are limited and awards depend on available funding.
  • If you do not hear back from SANRAL by 31 January 2026, your application was unsuccessful.
  • Only successful applicants will be contacted.
  • No feedback will be provided for unsuccessful applications.
