Requirements
Applicants must display competency in the core functions of the post.
Applicants must be proficient in at least English and one other official language.
Applicants must be South African citizens and must be able to provide documentary proof on the day of the interview.
Applicants must be in possession of ABET Level 4 / Grade 9 / Standard 7 / NQF Level 1 as recognised by SAQA.
Applicants must be able to read and write and must have basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
Applicants must be willing to work extended hours when necessary.
Knowledge and Skills
Applicants should have knowledge and understanding of how to handle cleaning detergents and follow Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
Applicants should also be able to interact with other officials in a professional manner and operate elementary machines and equipment where required.
Duties
Cleaner duties include maintaining hygiene in and around SAPS premises, dusting, polishing furniture and floors, vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, removing refuse, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, handling cleaning materials, loading and unloading goods, garden maintenance and washing state vehicles, kitchenware and utensils.
Food Service Aid duties include preparing and serving refreshments, rendering food service support, preparing meals, cleaning equipment, preparing dining halls and ensuring a clean and hygienic working environment.
Garden Worker duties include cultivating garden areas, preparing soil for planting, maintaining flower beds, mowing lawns, cutting edges, irrigating lawns, removing refuse and maintaining neatness of unit areas.
Messenger duties include sorting and arranging correspondence, recording and controlling correspondence registers, sorting mail, files, documents and parcels, ensuring recipients sign delivery registers, making copies, faxing and shredding documents.
