SASLHA Myrtle L Aron Bursaries 2026

The South African Speech-Language and Hearing Association (SASLHA) invites eligible students to apply for the Myrtle L Aron Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

Closing Date: 16 February 2026

This bursary aims to support deserving and financially needy students pursuing Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology degrees at accredited universities in South Africa.


Fields of Study Covered

The bursary is available to students studying:

  • Speech-Language Pathology
  • Audiology
  • Combined Speech-Language Therapy/Audiology programmes

Eligibility Requirements for the SASLHA Bursary

To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a SASLHA student member (students may sign up for FREE membership if not yet registered)
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be currently studying towards a degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology
  • Must have completed 2nd or 3rd year, and be entering 3rd or 4th year in 2026
  • Must be studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
  • Must have a strong academic record
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must not change degree programmes after submitting the application

Required Supporting Documents

When completing the online form, upload clear certified copies of the following:

  • South African ID document (certified)
  • Matric certificate (certified)
  • Full academic record / latest subjects (certified)
  • Testimonial from a clinical supervisor or relevant professional (on letterhead)
  • 3 months recent personal bank statements
  • Video recording (max 2 minutes) answering:
    • Who you are
    • Why you deserve the bursary
    • How you plan to contribute to the profession in the short and medium term
      Video must be compressed to less than 10MB
  • Signed affidavit confirming all submitted documents are original or certified copies

Missing documents may lead to automatic disqualification.


Closing Date

16 February 2026

Applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered. Apply early to avoid last-minute issues.
