The South African Speech-Language and Hearing Association (SASLHA) invites eligible students to apply for the Myrtle L Aron Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.
Closing Date: 16 February 2026
This bursary aims to support deserving and financially needy students pursuing Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology degrees at accredited universities in South Africa.
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is available to students studying:
- Speech-Language Pathology
- Audiology
- Combined Speech-Language Therapy/Audiology programmes
Eligibility Requirements for the SASLHA Bursary
To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Must be a SASLHA student member (students may sign up for FREE membership if not yet registered)
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be currently studying towards a degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology
- Must have completed 2nd or 3rd year, and be entering 3rd or 4th year in 2026
- Must be studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
- Must have a strong academic record
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must not change degree programmes after submitting the application

Required Supporting Documents
When completing the online form, upload clear certified copies of the following:
- South African ID document (certified)
- Matric certificate (certified)
- Full academic record / latest subjects (certified)
- Testimonial from a clinical supervisor or relevant professional (on letterhead)
- 3 months recent personal bank statements
- Video recording (max 2 minutes) answering:
- Who you are
- Why you deserve the bursary
- How you plan to contribute to the profession in the short and medium term
Video must be compressed to less than 10MB
- Signed affidavit confirming all submitted documents are original or certified copies
Missing documents may lead to automatic disqualification.
