Sasol is currently hiring for General Worker positions at their Sasolburg location in South Africa.

Position Details:

Job Overview:

As a General Worker, you will be assisting the Maintenance and Directional Drilling teams with equipment maintenance, welding, fitting, electrical assistance, and ensuring the sustainability of equipment. You will also be responsible for safe operation of welding equipment and supporting the team in achieving goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welding of mining equipment (flux core and other processes)
• Operating oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment
• Assisting with the operation of overhead cranes and lifting equipment
• Conducting visual inspections to ensure safety standards
• Participating in daily meetings and reporting any unsafe conditions
• Identifying and reporting abnormal conditions
• Following SOPs and COPs for safety, housekeeping, and other work-related activities
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4 or Equivalent (Maths & Science advantageous)
• Driver’s license (minimum code 08)
• Able to obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness
• First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Experience:

• 12 months welding experience
• Familiarity with underground machinery (e.g., Shuttle Car, Roof Bolter, Crushers, etc.)
• 12 months plant experience (desirable)
• Ability to use MIG welding equipment (desirable)

Skills:

• Safety procedures and awareness
• Emergency preparedness
• Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act and OSHA
• Ability to interpret written work instructions
