Seriti: Community Scholarships for the 2026

Seriti invites South African students to apply for Community Scholarships for the 2026 academic year.

About the Seriti Community Scholarship 2026

Seriti is inviting unemployed and deserving students from its host communities to apply for the Seriti Community Scholarship Programme for 2026. The scholarship supports Degree or Diploma studies in ANY field (minimum NQF Level 6) at recognised South African higher education institutions.

The programme is aimed at investing in education and skills development for students living in communities surrounding Seriti’s mining operations, ensuring long-term socio-economic upliftment.


Communities Covered by the Scholarship

Applicants must reside in communities around the following Seriti operations in Mpumalanga:

  • Khutala Colliery (Emalahleni)
  • Kriel Colliery
  • Middelburg Mine Services
  • New Denmark Colliery
  • New Vaal Colliery

Only applicants from these communities will be considered.


What the Seriti Scholarship Covers

The Seriti Community Scholarship provides funding for the following:

  • Tuition fees
  • Book allowance
  • Accommodation
  • Meal allowance

What the Scholarship Does NOT Cover

  • Outstanding tuition fees from previous years
  • Failed subjects or modules from prior academic years
  • Bridging or foundation programmes

Selection is based on academic performance and official registration for the 2026 academic year.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Reside within a Seriti host community listed above
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be studying or intending to study towards a Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6 or higher)
  • Be accepted or provisionally accepted at a recognised and registered University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Achieve a minimum overall average of 60% in the most recent academic results
  • NOT be receiving any other bursary, scholarship, or sponsorship

Failure to meet any requirement will result in disqualification.


Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must upload clear, certified copies of the following documents:

  • South African ID document (certified)
  • Matric certificate (certified)
  • Full academic record (if currently studying)
  • Proof of registration / acceptance / provisional acceptance (institution letterhead)
  • Brief Curriculum Vitae (PDF format)
  • Proof of residence (municipal account or letter from Council member or Traditional Authority)

Important Notes:

  • Documents must be certified within the last 3 months
  • Applicants must use Google Chrome when applying online
  • Missing documents may lead to disqualification

Selection and Feedback Process

  • If you do not receive feedback within this period, please regard your application as unsuccessful
  • Final selection is subject to confirmed registration for 2026 and academic performance
