Responsibilities
Learners will work under supervision and perform duties including:
- Cleaning up the site/workshop after tasks or at end of day
- Ensuring work areas are free of consumables and waste
- Adhering to SGS quality and safety management system requirements
- Reporting deviations, irregularities and non-conformance orally
- Performing reasonable tasks assigned by site supervisors, laboratory managers, or regional managers
- Conducting field and laboratory work, including sampling, calculations, and executing test methods accurately
- Maintaining discipline and following procedures within the assigned department
Compulsory & Technical Requirements
Applicants with the following experience will have an advantage:
- Sampling and preparation experience
- Fieldwork exposure including:
- Density tests
- Layer/stockpile sampling
- Manufacturing and handling concrete cubes
- DCP (Dynamic Cone Penetrometer)
- Ring & Ball tests
- Sand patch and on-site viscosity tests
- Sampling of asphalt, seals, concrete and aggregates
- Ability to perform all related test calculations
- Ability to assist laboratory quality control activities under supervision
- Physically fit and capable of moving samples
Minimum Qualifications
- NQF Level 4 / Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Proficiency in English
- Computer literacy (especially MS Office)
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be 18–30 years old
- Be currently unemployed
- Have no criminal record
- Be willing to relocate to Nelspruit
- Have strong analytical, research, and organisational skills
- Demonstrate high attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
- Be self-motivated with strong initiative
