The Shoprite Group is inviting eligible South African students to apply for the Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026. This bursary opportunity is aimed at supporting talented students in scarce and high-impact fields while creating a strong pipeline of future professionals for Africa’s largest food retailer.

About the Bursary Provider – Shoprite Group

About the Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026

Shoprite is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to students studying in selected priority fields.

Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded in the following fields:

  • Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) – 10 bursaries
  • Biological and Agricultural Sciences – 10 bursaries
  • Retail Business Management – 60 bursaries
  • Supply Chain & Logistics – 10 bursaries

Bursary Coverage and Value

The Shoprite bursary covers:

  • Tuition fees
  • Prescribed books
  • Accommodation allowance

💰 Bursary value: Between R30 000 and R60 000, depending on the field of study and institution.


Work-Back Obligation

All bursary recipients are required to work for Shoprite after graduation.

  • Work-back period: 1 year of employment for every year of funding received.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all the minimum requirements below.

Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA)

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying towards BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream)
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th year, or PGDA / CTA
  • Minimum 65% overall average
  • Minimum 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution

Biological and Agricultural Sciences

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or Agriculture with Crop/Plant Production focus
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year
  • Minimum 60% overall average
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution

Retail Business Management

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying towards a Diploma in Retail Business Management
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year (Advanced Diploma)
  • Minimum 60% overall average

Supply Chain & Logistics

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying BCom Logistics / Supply Chain Management / BSc Operational Research or Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain or Logistics Management
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year
  • Minimum 60% overall average

Step 4: Upload the required documents:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Full tertiary academic record (on institution letterhead)
