About the Sol Plaatje Municipality Internship Programme
The Sol Plaatje Municipality Financial Internship Programme is a 2-year structured training programme aimed at developing graduates in municipal financial management.
The programme is funded through the Financial Management Grant (FMG) and provides practical exposure in areas such as budgeting, supply chain management, and financial reporting.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Computer literacy (especially MS Excel)
- Knowledge of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) (advantage)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be unemployed and not previously participated in a similar internship

Key Responsibilities
Interns will:
- Assist with implementation of MFMA and financial processes
- Support budgeting and financial reporting
- Gain exposure to Supply Chain and Asset Management
- Rotate across departments (Budget Treasury, Supply Chain, Expenditure/Income)
- Compile and submit a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)
- Attend training and development programmes
