South African Actuarial Development Programme (SAADP) Bursaries 2025
South African Actuarial Development Programme (SAADP) invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.
Bursary Application Closing Date: 31 August 2024
The SAADP Bursary Programme is now accepting applications for the 2025 academic year, aimed at students pursuing an Actuarial Science qualification at one of the SAADP partner universities: University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Pretoria (UP), or University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).
Eligibility Requirements
For Matric/ Grade 12 Students:
- South African citizen
- Black or Coloured
- Currently in Matric
- Minimum of 80% in Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy), Physical Science, and English
- Intent to study Actuarial Science in 2025
- Applied to study at UCT, UP, or WITS
- For commercial stream students, apply to UCT (without Physical Science requirement)
- Registered for the National Benchmark Test (NBT)
- Internet access, active email address, and cell phone number
- Potential to succeed academically in university
- Passion for Actuarial Science
- Financially needy background
For University Students:
- South African citizen
- Currently studying towards an Actuarial Science qualification
- In 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Honours year of study in 2024
- Studying at UCT, UP, or WITS (students from other universities may apply if accepted into one of the partner universities)
- Excellent academic results
- Internet access, active email address, and cell phone number
- Passion for Actuarial Science
- Financially needy background

Supporting Documentation
For Matric/ Grade 12 Students:
- Certified copy of ID document, Grade 10 and 11 final report, Matric term reports, and final statement of results/NSC certificate
- Acceptance/provisional admission letter from a partner university
- Two essays (about yourself and why you want to be an actuary)
- Parent’s death certificate or affidavit if applicable
For University Students:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Full academic transcripts
- Parent’s death certificate or affidavit if applicable
Bursary Coverage and Support
- Financial support: tuition fees, textbook allowance, residence fees, meal allowance, living allowance
- Psychosocial support: mentorship, life skills programme
- Academic support: tutorials, mentorship, vacation work, seminars, workshops, exam preparation sessions
Selection Process
- Pre-screening: Ensure applications meet basic requirements.
- Shortlisting: Applications screened by the Students’ Selection and Monitoring Committee.
- Submission of Results: Matric students submit final matric results.
- Selection Interviews: Conducted for shortlisted Matriculants.
