Programme Overview

The SAB Apprentice – Electrical Programme is a structured 3–4-year apprenticeship designed to train candidates to become qualified artisans in the electrical trade.

This programme combines practical workplace experience and formal training, allowing participants to develop technical skills in plant operations, maintenance, and electrical systems within a leading manufacturing environment.


Programme Purpose

The main purpose of the programme is to:

  • Train learners to become qualified Electrical Artisans
  • Provide hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems
  • Build skills in maintenance, troubleshooting, and process optimisation

Key Responsibilities

Participants will:

  • Complete the full 3–4-year apprenticeship programme
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Comply with safety, health, and environmental standards
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of plant equipment
  • Diagnose and fix breakdowns
  • Improve and optimise plant systems and processes
  • Gain technical competence in machinery and electrical systems

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
  • National Technical Certificate (N3) in Electrical or related field
  • Electrical Engineering qualification (N4–N6) is advantageous
