About the Bursary Provider – SANPC

The South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC) is a newly established state-owned company formed through the merger of Igas, PetroSA and the Strategic Fuel Fund, previously under the Central Energy Fund.

Established with government approval in 2020, SANPC aims to:

  • Strengthen South Africa’s oil and gas sector
  • Improve national energy security
  • Develop strategic petroleum infrastructure
  • Promote innovation and partnerships
  • Support long-term economic growth and sustainable development

About the SANPC Bursary Programme 2026

SANPC is inviting applications for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded to:

Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

Funding is available for studies towards:

  • Diploma
  • Advanced Diploma
  • Degree
  • Honours

In ANY field of study.

This bursary is aimed at empowering students living with disabilities and promoting inclusive access to higher education.


What the Bursary Covers

The SANPC bursary provides full cover for:

  • Tuition fees
  • Prescribed textbooks

Please note: Accommodation and living expenses are not included.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be living with a disability
  • Must be studying or intend studying (full-time or part-time)
  • Must be pursuing a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree or Honours qualification
  • Qualification must be SAQA-approved (NQF Level 5–7 or higher)
  • Must be pursuing the qualification level for the first time (not repeating a degree or honours qualification)
  • Must be studying or registered at a recognised and DHET/CHE-registered tertiary institution

Failure to meet all requirements may result in disqualification.


Required Supporting Documents

There is no application form for this bursary. Applicants must submit the following documents via email:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Most recent academic record/transcript (if currently studying)
  • Proof of tertiary registration
  • Proof of disability:
    • Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form
    • Diagnosis Letter from a medical doctor

Incomplete applications may not be considered.
