South African Petroleum Refinery (SAPREF) Bursaries 2026

About the SAPREF Bursary Programme 2026

SAPREF is inviting applications from qualifying students for full-time undergraduate studies in the 2026 academic year.

Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards the following qualifications:

  • Chemical Engineering (BSc Eng)
  • Environmental Science (BSc)
  • Finance / Logistics / Supply Chain Management / Human Resources Management (BCom)
  • Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering (BSc Eng)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSc Eng)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intend to study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the listed fields
  • Must be entering 1st or 2nd year of study in 2026
  • Must be studying at or accepted to a public university in South Africa
    (private institutions are not funded)
  • Must have a strong academic record

Failure to meet any of the above requirements may result in disqualification.


Selection Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 3 weeks after the closing date
  • If no feedback is received within this period, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful
