The Open Window: Scholarships 2024
The Open Window invites students to apply for Scholarship Programme 2024 academic year.
Scholarship Application Closing Date: 16 October 2023
Scholarship Offer:
- The scholarships will cover up to 50% of the course fees per year for the full three-year degree program.
- Four scholarships are available, one for each of the following specialisation streams:
- Animation Arts
- Film Arts
- Creative Technologies
- Visual Communication
About the Competition:
- The competition is based on Visual Storytelling.
- Applicants are required to create a series of 4 images or frames inspired by the theme: “What’s in a story?”
- Applicants can use any format, approach, or visual medium, such as stop motion, comics, photographs, typography, sound, animation, 3D objects, digital designs, film, etc.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- Interested in studying one of the full-time degree qualifications listed at Open Window.
- Able to start studying in January 2024.
- Meet the entry requirements for the chosen degree program.
- Demonstrate exceptional artistic talent and creative potential.
- Committed to completing 120 credits per year.
- Achieve and maintain a minimum overall average of 65% across all subjects.
- Agree to the competition rules.

Supporting Documentation:
- Main Project: A series of 4 images or frames inspired by the theme.
- Project title relevant to the theme.
- Rationale (maximum 200 words) explaining how the project responds to the theme.
- Project planning document, including planning and revision process notes.
Important Notes:
- Admission will be subject to the company’s standard admission requirements.
- The scholarship will only be offered to applicants who meet the degree entry requirements.
- Time-based entries should not exceed 30 seconds.
- Film and animation submissions should focus on 5 moments/events linked by cause and effect.
- Ensure the file size of your application is not larger than 20 MB.
- If your video exceeds 20 MB, upload it to YouTube and provide the link.
- Selection is based on creative potential and artistic talent.
Selection Process:
- A financial consultation will be conducted with shortlisted candidates before registration.
- Shortlisted candidates will be announced on the Open Window website.
- Online interviews will be conducted with shortlisted candidates.
- Winners will be announced on the Open Window website in December 2023.
Closing Date: The closing date for applications is 16 October 2023. Ensure your application is submitted before this date to be considered.
