The Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) invites South African professionals to apply for the TETA-WMU Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Qualification Funded: MSc in Maritime Affairs
Funding Coverage: Fully funded scholarship


About the TETA-WMU Scholarship

This prestigious scholarship supports South Africans employed in the maritime sector to pursue a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University (WMU) in Sweden. It is aimed at enhancing skills development and leadership in the maritime industry.


Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be academically accepted by WMU
  • Be currently employed within the maritime sector in South Africa
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the maritime field
  • Have been with their current employer for at least 12 months
  • Submit a letter of support from their employer, confirming participation and return post-study
  • Preference will be given to female candidates and middle managers

Required Documents:

  • Completed WMU application for admission (with your Matric certificate attached)
  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Passport, if available (certified copy)
  • Application for a passport, if passport is not yet available (certified copy)
  • TETA Motivational Statement (available here)
  • Letter of support from your current employer, confirming that you may partake in the programme and will be allowed to return to work after completing programme (sabbatical or unpaid leave could be considered)
  • Application for Financial Support form completed by your employer (available here – to be emailed to msc@wmu.se)
  • Signed Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship (available here)

Note: documents that are not submitted on the WMU online application must be submitted via email to msc@wmu.se
