About the Toyota Learner Maintenance Programme

This programme provides unemployed youth with a structured opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical experience within the automotive manufacturing sector. Successful candidates will complete a full learnership that includes technical training, hands-on factory exposure, and essential safety and operations learning.

The programme equips learners with skills needed for future employment in manufacturing, maintenance, and production environments. Upon completion, learners will achieve an NQF Level 3 certification.


Training Components Included in the Learnership

Learners will receive training in the following areas:

  • Teamwork and collaborative working
  • Safety and the use of hand tools
  • Assembly and manufacturing drawings
  • Marking off and welding fundamentals
  • Operating and monitoring production machines
  • Preparing surfaces
  • Firefighting basics
  • Operations and product dispatch

This structured training ensures learners are work-ready for technical roles in industrial and automotive settings.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required

To qualify, applicants must have:

  • National Technical Certificate (N3–N6)
    OR
  • Matric / Technical Matric with any of the following subjects:
    • Mathematics
    • Physical Science or Engineering Science
    • Electrical Trade Theory
    • Mechanical Trade Theory
    • Motor Trade Theory
    • Mechanical Drawing
    • Graphical Design
