Volkswagen Group Africa Apprenticeship Programme 2027
Volkswagen Group Africa is offering technical apprenticeship opportunities through its Technical Learning Academy.
The programme is intended to provide full-time access to technical and trade-related training and is available to qualifying applicants from specified groups.
The training period is:
3 or 4 years
depending on the trade or technical programme.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are invited from:
- Permanent VWSA hourly-rated employees.
- Children of permanently employed VWSA employees.
- Members of the Nelson Mandela Bay local community.
Available Trades
Applicants can apply for training in the following fields:
Electrical
Mechanical Fitter
Millwright
Automotive Motor Mechanic
Transportation Electrician
Mechatronics Technician
Applicants must select their preferred trades or fields of training in order of priority when completing the application.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 / Technical Matric with a pass in:
Core Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
and
Physical Science or Engineering Science
Mathematical Literacy will not be considered.
Alternatively, applicants may have:
At least N3 / NTC3
with four subjects, including core Mathematics and Physical Science.
Higher relevant technical qualifications may also be considered according to the advertised entry route.
Programme Conditions
Successful candidates will not be allowed to work overtime during the Technical Programme unless authorised.
Participants will also not be permitted to register for additional studies that are not part of the apprenticeship if those studies require attendance during normal working hours.

- Certified copy of South African ID, not older than three months.
- Certified copy of the highest school or college qualification, not older than three months.
- Full motivation letter explaining why you want to join the programme.
- Contactable cellphone number.

Volkswagen specifically states that the highest qualification document must be submitted rather than only an academic transcript.
