Volkswagen Group Africa Bursary 2027
Volkswagen Group Africa is offering bursary funding to qualifying undergraduate students studying at recognised and accredited tertiary institutions in South Africa.
The bursary covers a wide range of Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Business, Finance, Logistics and related qualifications.
Applicants must be entering their second, third or fourth year of undergraduate study in 2027.

What the VWGA Bursary Covers
Successful bursary recipients may receive funding for:
- Registration fees.
- Tuition fees.
- Books and stationery.
- Accommodation.
- Meals.
- A laptop for study purposes.
Bursary recipients may also have opportunities to participate in vacation work and receive mentoring, development and additional academic support.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens by birth and must have completed Matric.
Candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s Pass in Matric with a minimum average of 70%.
Applicants must be studying full-time towards an eligible undergraduate qualification and must be entering their second, third or fourth year in 2027.
A minimum tertiary academic average of 65% is required.
Students must be registered at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution and must not be employed on a full-time basis.
The bursary does not cover Master’s or Doctoral studies.
Preference will be given to students from designated groups in line with Volkswagen Group Africa’s transformation objectives and Employment Equity Plan.
Work-Back Obligation
Students who receive VWGA bursary funding will be required to work back for Volkswagen Group Africa after graduation.
The work-back obligation applies for each year of funding received from VWGA.
Applicants should therefore carefully consider this condition before accepting a bursary award.
Selection Process
Candidates may undergo several stages before final selection, including screening, shortlisting, an interview and psychometric assessments.
Successful candidates will also be required to sign an agreement provided by Volkswagen Group Africa.
Shortlisted applicants are expected to be contacted by 28 November 2026.
Applicants who have not received feedback by that date should regard their application as unsuccessful.

Applicants must submit:
- Certified copy of South African ID.
- Certified copy of Matric certificate.
- Certified full tertiary academic records covering all years of study.
- Most recent or June 2026 official academic transcript or institutional report.
- 2026 official university fee statement.
- Lease agreement if staying in off-campus accommodation.
- Certified 2026 proof of registration.
- Comprehensive CV.
- One- to two-page motivational letter.
- Bursary agreement, funding letter or offer if currently funded by another bursary or NSFAS.
- Department of Labour EEA1 form and medical diagnosis letter where applicable for applicants with disabilities.
- Certified ID documents of parents or guardians, or death certificates where applicable.
- Signed parent/legal guardian consent form and certified guardian ID for applicants younger than 18.
Certified documents must be less than three months old.
Where more than one document is required for a single upload field, applicants should combine the documents into one file.
