Western TVET College is offering temporary tutoring opportunities to unemployed former students who have achieved strong academic results in the relevant subjects.

The tutoring programme covers selected Report 191 and NCV subjects at the Randfontein and Carletonville campuses.

Successful tutors will receive:

R150 per session

1 hour

Tutor Duties and Responsibilities

Successful tutors will assist students with academic support activities including:

  • Homework.
  • Projects.
  • ISAT preparation.
  • Test preparation.
  • Research.
  • Other academic tasks.
  • Explaining key concepts covered in class.
  • Working closely with subject lecturers and mentor lecturers.
  • Preparing and maintaining tutoring files.
  • Monitoring student progress.
  • Applying intervention strategies in consultation with lecturers.
  • Teaching study strategies.
  • Improving note-taking skills.
  • Helping students develop better test-answering techniques.
  • Providing feedback to lecturers and students.
  • Completing reports on work performed.
  • Recording student attendance and punctuality.
  • Submitting attendance registers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding student records, results and progress.
