Western Cape Government Graduate Internships 2026 / 2027

The Western Cape Government invites South African unemployed graduates residing in the Western Cape to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme for 2025/2027.

Internship Location: Cape Town CBD, Western Cape, South Africa

This Youth Development Programme provides successful interns with two years of practical work experience within the Western Cape Government. The programme is designed to build future talent, improve employability, and give graduates exposure to real government operations.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens residing in the Western Cape
  • Be between 18 – 35 years old
  • Be unemployed and seeking first-time government internship experience
  • Have completed Grade 12 in the Western Cape
  • Hold a completed qualification:
    • Certificate (NQF 5)
    • Diploma (NQF 6)
    • Degree (NQF 7)
    • Postgraduate Qualification (NQF 8 or higher)
  • Have suitable qualifications in any of the following fields:
    • Sport Science
    • Communication / Journalism
    • Community Development
    • Finance
    • Administration-related fields

Recommendation

Priority may be given to applicants who:

  • Are financially constrained
  • Lack a support network for career guidance

Key Performance Areas

Successful interns will receive on-the-job training within one of the Western Cape Government’s departments:

  • Department of Agriculture

Competencies Required

Remuneration

Interns will receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.00.
