About the BASF South Africa Trust Bursary 2027
The BASF South Africa Trust Bursary provides financial support to academically strong Black female students who require financial assistance to pursue tertiary education in South Africa.
For the 2027 academic year, the bursary is available to students pursuing qualifications in Chemistry, Engineering and Sciences.

Who Can Apply for the BASF Bursary?

- Have a combined household income of not more than R630,000 per annum;
- Have a strong academic record;
- Have no criminal record; and
- Not be receiving another bursary or scholarship for the 2027 academic year.
Who Will Not Qualify?
Based on the advertised requirements, the bursary does not fund:
- Master’s degree students;
- PhD students;
- Medical Sciences;
- Economic Sciences;
- Applicants with a household income exceeding R630,000 per year; or
- Applicants already receiving another bursary or scholarship for 2027.
Applicants must also meet the citizenship, gender, BBBEE, academic and other eligibility requirements.
Documents Required
Applicants must submit the required supporting documents as part of their online application.
These include:
- Certified copy of South African ID;
- Certified copy of Matric certificate or Matric results;
- Certified copy of full academic record, including the latest available results;
- Proof of university acceptance;
- Certified proof of parents’ or guardians’ income; and
- Curriculum Vitae of no more than three pages.
Depending on the employment circumstances of your parents or guardians, proof of income may include:
- Latest payslips if employed;
- Audited financial statements if self-employed;
- An affidavit if unemployed; or
- Proof of a government grant or pension, where applicable.

BASF Bursary Selection Process

Candidates may also be invited to participate in an interview as part of the selection process.
