Internship Overview
The SCM Internship Programme is a 12-month developmental opportunity for graduates interested in building a career in public sector supply chain management.
Interns will rotate through the four core SCM sections, gaining hands-on experience in the end-to-end SCM value chain in a university environment. This programme is ideal for candidates who want to:
- Build practical work experience.
- Understand public sector legislative frameworks.
- Develop administrative and analytical skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related qualification (NQF6/NQF7).
- No work experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).

- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Professionalism and confidentiality.
- Negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Assertiveness.
Added Advantages
- Prior exposure in procurement/SCM (not mandatory).
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems.
Key Duties
- Assist in preparing procurement plans and forecasts.
- Support end-users with procurement requests and specifications.
- Maintain demand management records and needs analysis.
- Help with RFQs, tenders, and bid documentation.
- Attend bid meetings as an observer.
- Ensure compliance with SCM procedures.
- Assist with contracts management and filing.
- Process travel requisitions and support travel coordination.
- Provide administrative support across SCM functions.
