Purpose
The purpose of this 12 months graduate programme is to provide support to the Real Estate and Logistical Services department and to assist the employer to keep the workplace safe and free from hazards to the health and safety of the employees by implementing OHS standards, fire Safety Standards, procedures and directives. This is an exciting opportunity for those who have completed their National Diploma: Safety Management and looking to enhance their skills and experience in the work environment.
About the Team
The Occupational Health and Safety team is responsible for assisting the employer to keep the workplace safe and free from hazards to the health and safety of the employees by implementing OHS standards, fire Safety Standards, procedures and directives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Gather IOD statistical information for analysis
โขParticipate in hazard identification and risk assessment processes
โขParticipate in Fire Risk Assessments
โขParticipate in incident investigations
โขConduct weekly workplace inspections and issue reports
โขParticipate and provide assistance with the formation and functioning of the Safety Committees
โขCarryout tasks as per the fire prevention program
โขInspection of firefighting equipment
โขIdentify the need for firefighting equipment
โขPresent health and safety induction
โขDistribute fire safety awareness items
โขImplement Safety Plans
โขImplement the emergency procedures and plans
Execute Planned Task Observations and gather critical tasks information for analysis
โขProvide support on issues relating to OHS Act the OHS Program
โขMonitor OHS compliance on projects
โขImplement emergency plans and procedures
โขConduct Safety Walkabouts with a view to pinpoint non-compliances
โขMonitor Safety Representatives, fire Marshals and first aiders inspections
โขPresent Safety Induction
โขAttend departmental Health and Safety Committee meetings
โขConduct Departmental Document verification
INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma: Safety Management (Three Year NQF 6) or relevant discipline)
