ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out all preventive maintenance jobs and scheduled checks assigned under supervision of artisan. •Ensure all maintenance work and repairs are in line with company standards.
Assist artisans on breakdowns and other preventive maintenance work assigned. •Timeously attend to and solve less complex breakdowns, and accurately record the breakdown information on the jobcard, i.e. time taken, spares used, etc.
Identify and correct/report immediately potential problems and safety hazards. •Attend to any other relevant duties assigned by the Manager/Artisan/Maintenance Planner.
Ensure availability for overtime work and shift-work when requested to do so. •Ensure 5S system and housekeeping up to high standard. •Learn trade, practical and theory, as required by merSETA. •Any other ad hoc duty as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
NQF Level 4 or N3 / N2 Trade Theory. •Must have Mathematics at Grade 12 level. •High level of attention to detail. •Analytical abilities and good fault finding skills.
Ability to use own initiative. •Ability to read and understand technical drawings. •Basic administrative skills and computer literacy.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently sit and continuously be required to walk or stand.
Job requires use of hands for repetitive action for the use of hand tools, machine switches and equipment operation. The employee is required to carry out visual and audio inspections at times.
The job also requires working on heights, work on ladders, uneven terrain, and confined /cramped areas. Job may also require driving forklifts or boom lifts. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10-15kgs.
The job requires employees to work on steps or ladders, uneven terrain, operate equipment and use tools.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to chemicals, noise, dust, change in temperature and cramped areas.
