Afrimat Iron Ore Bursaries 2026

Afrimat Iron Ore (Pty) Ltd is inviting eligible students residing in the Northern Cape to apply for its 2026 Bursary Programme.

Fields Covered by the Afrimat Bursary 2026

Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards a Higher Certificate, National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields:

Engineering Fields

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering

Operations and Related Fields

  • Geology
  • Environmental Studies
  • Safety
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Human Resources (N4–N6 Certificates also accepted)

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)

To qualify for the Afrimat Bursary, applicants must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must reside in the Northern Cape
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying towards a Higher Certificate, National Diploma, BTech, or Degree in one of the listed fields
  • Must be registered at an accredited South African institution (University, TVET College, or Higher Education Institution)
  • Must have obtained a minimum average of 60% in the current academic year
  • Must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
  • Preference will be given to students from:
    • JTG and Tsantsabane communities
    • Designated groups and historically disadvantaged backgrounds

What the Bursary Covers

  • Tuition fees for the 2026 academic year
  • Support for students in higher education programmes

Step 1:

Step 2:

Prepare certified copies of the following supporting documents and compile them into one PDF document not larger than 3MB:

  • South African ID
  • Matric certificate
  • Proof of registration at a tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Note: If selected, applicants must provide stamped proof of residence from the Municipality.
