Willowton SANZAF Bursaries 2026

The Willowton Group, in partnership with the South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF), invites financially needy South African students to apply for the Willowton SANZAF Bursary Programme 2026.

Bursary Closing Date: 30 September 2025

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary may cover the following study-related costs:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Textbooks
  • May also cover: laptop and a monthly stipend

Payments will be made directly to the institution.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must reside in the province where applying.
  • Must be in one of these categories:
    • Currently in Matric (2025).
    • Currently studying at a tertiary institution and self/family funded last year.
    • Currently studying at a tertiary institution and funded by Willowton/SANZAF last year.
  • Must have applied for NSFAS before applying for this bursary.
  • Must have achieved at least 65% per subject/module.
  • Must demonstrate proven financial need.
  • Must be from a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Must meet SANZAF requirements.

Required Documents

Matric students:

  • Certified copy of ID or study permit.
  • Latest Matric results.
  • Motivational letter.
  • Testimonial from school.
  • Proof of household income (payslips/affidavit).

Tertiary students (not previously sponsored by SANZAF):

  • Certified copy of ID or study permit.
  • Matric certificate.
  • Full academic record (institution letterhead).
  • Motivational letter.
  • Testimonial from University, Imaam, or Religious Leader.
  • Proof of household income.

Tertiary students (currently sponsored by SANZAF):

  • Matric certificate.
  • 2025 mid-year tertiary results.
  • Proof of household income.

Selection Process

  • Applications are reviewed by the Bursary Committee.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
  • Feedback will be provided by regional offices.
  • Successful candidates will receive a Confirmation of Pledge letter.
