Dis-Chem Pharmacies has exciting opportunities for Dispensary Support Learners across various locations in South Africa. This learnership is designed to provide learners with the skills, knowledge, and workplace experience required to complete the Basic Pharmacist Assistant Course and pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Learners will be employed in a fixed-term position as Dispensary Support until they are registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as learner basic assistants. Once qualified, successful learners may be offered permanent employment as basic pharmacist assistants.

Responsibilities

As a Dispensary Support Learner, you will:

  • Sell Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
  • Assist with compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines.
  • Unpack and merchandise stock, and clean dispensary & OTC shelves.
  • Learn to accurately interpret prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist with picking, packing, labelling, and checking medication.
  • Manage stock, ensuring organisation, cleanliness, and checking expiry dates.
  • Provide information to promote health awareness.
  • Assist with scheme authorisation of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication.
  • Handle patient follow-ups, call centre scripts, and service calls.
  • Report stock shortages or errors to the Dispensary Manager.
  • Receive dispensary stock in line with company SOPs.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Pure Mathematics
  • Physical Science or Life Science as an additional subject
  • At least 50% average pass
