Monocle Foundation Bursaries 2026

The Monocle Foundation is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 1 November 2025

This bursary is dedicated to empowering previously disadvantaged black females by offering comprehensive financial support for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in South Africa.


Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields (among others):

  • Accounting
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine

What the Monocle Foundation Bursary Covers

The bursary provides full support for students, including:

  • Tuition fees
  • Book and study material allowance
  • Laptop
  • Accommodation
  • Subsistence allowance
  • Career counselling and a MS Office course

📌 Shortlisting will take place in November 2025, with successful applicants confirmed by mid-December 2025.


Obligations of Bursary Recipients

  • No repayment or work-back obligation required after graduation.
  • Students must regularly update the Trust on their academic progress and submit final results.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be female
  • Must be Black (African, Coloured, Indian, or Asian)
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying towards an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree (2nd year or higher)
  • Must be enrolled at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Must be in financial need
  • Must not already receive another bursary

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Full academic record/transcripts (stamped & on institution letterhead)
  • Certified copy of degree certificate (if postgraduate)
  • Breakdown of required funds for 2026 (tuition, books, accommodation, subsistence)
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivational letter addressed to the Trustees (include personal background, field of study, career goals, and reason for applying)
