About the SAB Apprenticeship Programme

Dreaming big is in SAB’s DNA. Through this 3–4 year apprenticeship programme, SAB aims to nurture talented young South Africans in various engineering trades, providing them with technical knowledge, mentorship, and workplace experience.

Apprentices will complete training as per company and SETA requirements, while gaining valuable industry exposure in a world-class production environment.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science.
  • Minimum National Technical Certificate (N4) to complete the programme in relevant trades.
  • Higher qualification in the relevant engineering discipline (N5/N6 advantageous).
  • Demonstrated engineering aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete a 3–4 year apprenticeship programme.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy working environment.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental legislation.
  • Gain technical skills, knowledge, and hands-on training.
  • Locate and manage plant, equipment, spares, and technical documentation.
  • Plan, budget, and prepare for jobs.
  • Evaluate, repair, and maintain plant equipment.
  • Continuously improve and optimise processes, systems, and machinery.
  • Develop machine-specific technical competence.
