About the Internship
The Student Internship Programme is designed to provide qualifying students with workplace exposure and practical experience to meet academic or post-academic training requirements. This initiative supports youth development by offering valuable opportunities for skills development and work readiness.
Available Internship Position
- Department: Human Settlements
- Branch: Public Housing Stock Management
- Designation: Internship: Public Housing Stock Management
- Duration: 18 months (not exceeding)
- Stipend: R10 109,86 per month (Basic Salary, no benefits)
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4).
- A qualification in Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or any Built Environment qualification at NQF Level 6.
- Must be an unemployed graduate who has not previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg.
Primary Function
The intern will provide project and administrative support and act as a programme coordinator on Public Housing Stock Management programmes and projects implemented by the directorate.
Key Learning Areas
- Coordinate and monitor Public Housing Stock Management projects.
- Assist with procurement strategy, building contracts, and tender document compliance.
- Provide administrative support to ensure confidentiality and timely delivery of documents.
Competencies and Skills Required
- Computer Literacy: MS Office applications.
- Communication: English (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
- Core Skills: Report writing, presentation, numeracy, time management, ability to prioritise tasks.
- Personal Attributes: Flexibility, adaptability, confidentiality, self-confidence, professionalism, and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge: Project management basics, construction management fundamentals, Batho Pele principles, and adherence to HR & CoJ values.
