Knysna Rotary Club Bursaries 2026

The Knysna Rotary Club invites students residing in Knysna to apply for its External Undergraduate Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

Bursary Location: Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa

Running since 1982, this is the Club’s largest single budget item and is funded by local initiatives such as the Rotary Golf Weekend and the former Rotary Cycle Tour.

Fields of Study

Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Ambulance Training
  • Architect Drawing
  • Business Management
  • Education / Teaching
  • Engineering
  • Firefighting
  • Journalism
  • Law
  • Marketing
  • Media and Communication
  • Medicine
  • Nature Conservation
  • Nursing and Caring
  • Social Work

Bursary Value and Payment

  • Value: R6 000 – R30 000 (partial bursary).
  • Payment schedule:
    • 50% paid to the institution after applications are processed.
    • Remaining 50% paid after passing mid-year exams/course.
  • As a partial award, applicants must have another source of funding.

Renewal and Selection

  • Funding is valid for one year; students must re-apply for subsequent years.
  • Shortlisted candidates will attend a comprehensive interview.
  • Applicants are encouraged to support Rotary fundraising and volunteer activities.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have resided in Knysna for at least 5 years.
  • Be in Matric (2025) or have completed Matric.
  • Be studying or intending to study towards an undergraduate qualification in the approved fields (no postgraduate funding).
  • Demonstrate academic ability with a minimum overall average of 50%.
  • Have another source of funding.

Preference may be given to candidates who can show: clear course and career understanding; strong school results; leadership or community involvement; excellent communication; evidence of planning (accommodation/travel/holiday work); knowledge of Rotary; awareness of current affairs; and adequate financial support from parents/guardians.

Submit clear copies of the following with your application:

  • Certified SA ID document
  • Passport-sized photo (attach to the form)
  • Latest Matric results (if currently in Matric)
  • Matric certificate (if completed)
  • Most recent tertiary results (if currently studying)
  • Re-applicants: 2025 mid-year tertiary results

If selected, you may be asked for: final 2025 Matric results; end-of-year tertiary results; proof of 2026 registration; student number; and institution banking details.
