Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for ICT Support Internships 2026.

Internship Closing Date: 5 December 2025
Internship Duration: 24 Months
Monthly Stipend: R7 000
Internship Locations: Gauteng (x2), Northern Cape (x2), Free State (x2)

CHIETA is offering a 24-month ICT Support Internship programme for recently graduated youth residing in the Gauteng, Northern Cape, and Free State provinces. These internship roles form part of CHIETA’s Smart Skills Centres initiative, designed to strengthen digital literacy, provide workplace experience, and enhance ICT and administrative capacity within the Innovation and Technology Business Unit.

Successful applicants will gain hands-on experience in technical support, centre operations, ICT troubleshooting, digital platforms, administration, and user support while contributing to the efficient functioning of Smart Skills Centres across three provinces.

Northern Cape (x2 Posts)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
  • Minimum 65% average
  • Reside in Northern Cape
  • Computer literate
  • Valid driver’s license (advantage)
  • Recently graduated with no work experience

Free State (x2 Posts)

Title: Smart Skills Centre ICT Support Intern
Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 65% average
  • Reside in Free State
  • Computer literate
  • Valid driver’s license (advantage)
  • Recently graduated with no work experience

Gauteng (x2 Posts)

Reference Number: GP-SSC-001
Title: Smart Skills Centre ICT Support Intern
Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 65% average
  • Reside in Gauteng
  • Computer literate
  • Valid driver’s license (advantage)
  • Recently graduated with no work experience

Additional Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum overall average of 65%
  • Must have no previous work experience
  • Must reside in the province you are applying for
  • Driver’s licence is an added advantage
  • Computer literacy is essential

Key Responsibilities

ICT and administrative duties include:

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues
  • Providing ICT assistance to centre users
  • Supporting setup of online learning platforms
  • Monitoring network security and compliance
  • Updating and managing ICT equipment
  • Recording walk-in queries and resolving issues
  • Reporting technical challenges (e.g., internet problems)
  • Visitor management and centre cleanliness
  • Checking emails, calls, and social media enquiries
  • Supporting centre marketing initiatives
  • Taking minutes during meetings
