United Manganese of Kalahari (UMK) has opened applications for its 2026 Mining Learnerships (18.2) and 2026 Mineral Processing Learnerships (18.2). These learnerships are designed specifically for youth living within the JTG District Municipality, offering life-changing opportunities to enter the mining industry with accredited qualifications and practical work experience.

2026 Mining Learnership (18.2)

Number of Positions: 10

This programme prepares learners for real mining environments and equips them with essential mining competencies. Learners will work in the Mining Department, gaining experience in blasting, drilling, excavation, and safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements (Mining Learnership)

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Must reside in JTG District / Joe Morolong Municipality
  • Medically fit for mining environments
  • Good communication and technical ability
  • Strong discipline, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and ability to follow safety standards

Learners will be trained in how manganese ore is crushed, screened, scrubbed, and prepared for export. All training modules are MQA-accredited.

Minimum Requirements (Mineral Processing)

  • Grade 10 OR ABET Level 4
  • Must reside in JTG District / Joe Morolong Municipality
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Basic technical and communication skills
  • Medically fit for plant environments
