Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 plus a National Diploma in Internal Auditing
- An Advanced Diploma or BTech in Internal Auditing will be an added advantage
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Basic knowledge of:
- Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS)
- Corporate Governance
- Local Government financial environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be unemployed
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must not have participated in an Internal Audit Internship Programme before
- Willing to sign an internship agreement
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful intern will be trained and exposed to the following areas:
- Performing internal audit tasks in line with the approved audit programme
- Assisting the Chief Audit Executive with the implementation of the internal audit plan
- Reviewing internal controls, accounting procedures and risk management processes
- Evaluating compliance with MFMA and other applicable legislation
- Examining the reliability and integrity of financial and operational information
- Reviewing municipal systems for compliance with policies, laws and regulations
- Periodic verification of municipal assets
- Evaluating efficiency, economy and effectiveness of municipal operations
- Reviewing municipal programmes against set goals and objectives
Conditions of Appointment
- Internship duration: 2 years
- Performance will be monitored and assessed regularly
- Appointment is subject to verification of qualifications and criminal record checks
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
- If no response is received within 30 days after the closing date, the application should be regarded as unsuccessful
