Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT), guided by its commitment to shaping and owning the future, invites dedicated and academically strong students to apply for Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Student Assistant (Tutor) positions for 2026. This internal opportunity is coordinated by the Teaching and Learning Development Centre (TLDC) and aims to strengthen student success through collaborative, peer-led learning.


About the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Programme

The PAL programme enhances learning, improves retention, and promotes academic engagement across faculties. Student Assistants work under the guidance of academic staff to support peers in mastering course content and developing effective study habits.


Key Responsibilities

PAL Student Assistants will be expected to:

  • Facilitate structured peer learning sessions under academic guidance
  • Support students with course content and effective study strategies
  • Assist lecturers and PAL Champions with attendance and engagement tracking
  • Provide feedback on participation and academic challenges
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit reports
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be full-time registered students or recent graduates of Mangosuthu University of Technology
  • Have passed the module(s) they wish to support
  • Achieve a minimum average of 65% in the relevant module
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Show commitment to academic excellence and student success

Salary and Contract Terms

  • Stipend: Based on qualifications and hours allocated per module
  • Contract Duration: March 2026 – December 2026
  • Benefits: None
