Beaufort West Municipality invites interested and enthusiastic unemployed youth to apply for the Building Control Internship Programme 2026 (X5 posts) within the Directorate: Infrastructure Services.

About the Internship Programme

The Building Control Internship Programme is designed to train unemployed youth as Building Controllers, offering hands-on exposure to municipal planning, design, and building control functions. Successful interns will gain practical experience while contributing to service delivery within the local municipality.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • National Diploma in one of the following fields:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Town Planning
    • Building Science
    • N5 Building
    • Any civil/building-related field with Matric (Grade 12)
  • Clear criminal record (SAPS)
  • Age: 20–40 years
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must reside within the Beaufort West Municipal Area
    • Attach SAPS Address Confirmation or a letter from your ward councillor confirming residence
  • Certified copy of South African ID

Assessment: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a written diagnostic assessment conducted by the Beaufort West Municipal Infrastructure Services Department (Planning, Design & Building Control). Successful candidates will be admitted to the internship programme.


Directions to Candidates

  • Candidates must be physically fit
  • Applications must be completed on the prescribed municipal application form
  • Applications must include:
    • Cover letter
    • Certified copies of qualifications
    • Certified copy of ID document

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a stamped SAPS vetting certificate (or proof of application).

Note: Failure to submit all required documentation will result in disqualification.
