This two-year graduate development programme is aimed at bridging the gap between academic studies and practical workplace experience, while equipping young professionals with critical skills in regulation, compliance, and social housing oversight.
About the SHRA Internship Programme
The SHRA is a Schedule 3A public entity under the Department of Human Settlements, established in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No. 1 of 1999. Its mandate is to regulate and support the delivery of rental social housing for low- to medium-income earners, as provided for in the Social Housing Act No. 16 of 2008.
Through its structured internship programme, SHRA provides graduates from universities and universities of technology across South Africa with meaningful workplace exposure in regulatory and compliance functions.
Business Analyst Internship Overview
The current intake is for one (1) Business Analyst Intern to be placed within the Compliance, Accreditation and Regulations department.

- Duration: 24 Months (2026–2027)
- Monthly Stipend: R11,175.00
The intern will report to a Business Analyst and participate in regulatory compliance, monitoring, and assessment processes.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas
Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in the following areas:
Compliance Verification and Reporting
- Verifying information submitted by reporting entities against supporting documentation
- Assisting with the preparation of individual assessment reports
- Supporting the issuing of compliance notices and declarations
Monitoring and Assessment
- Preparing compliance monitoring reports
- Assessing submissions responding to compliance conditions
- Participating in the development of remedial action plans and capacity development initiatives
Investigations and Database Administration
- Assisting with internal investigations and diagnostic assessments
- Identifying areas of non-compliance
- Managing administrative tasks, including document acknowledgements and compliance database updates
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in one of the following fields:
- Accounting Sciences
- Accounting
- Internal Auditing
- Financial Management
- Management Accounting
A Grade 12 certificate is also required.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data verification ability
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of data analytics software will be an added advantage
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the programme, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be under the age of 35
- Be unemployed
- Have no prior work experience (graduates welcome)
