Transnet invites South African youth to apply for the Work Integrated Non-Technical Learner (WIL) Programme 2026.

Position Purpose

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme provides students and recent graduates with structured workplace exposure. The programme allows participants to apply their academic knowledge in a practical environment while gaining valuable industry experience.

The programme runs for 18 months and focuses on enhancing employability through:

  • Hands-on training
  • Mentorship
  • Real business exposure

Key Responsibilities

Task Execution

  • Assist with departmental projects
  • Perform operational tasks under supervision
  • Support documentation and reporting

Learning & Development

  • Participate in training sessions and workshops
  • Shadow experienced professionals
  • Develop analytical and problem-solving skills

Communication & Collaboration

  • Interact with customers, suppliers and internal teams
  • Provide progress updates
  • Act as a contact point for assistance

Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to company policies and safety standards
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Follow ethical and professional guidelines

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct market research and data analysis
  • Prepare reports and presentations
  • Support process improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Matric certificate (or equivalent)
  • N6 qualification in Transport & Logistics or Business Management
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18–35 years old
  • No bursary obligation with another company
