About the UNDP Internship Programme
The Programme Support Internship is offered within the Regional Bureau for Africa under the HIV and Health Group (HHG). The intern will support the #WeBelongAfrica Programme (WBA), which focuses on improving governance, inclusion, and access to health services across the African continent.
The programme works with governments, civil society organisations, and communities to strengthen policies and public services that address HIV prevention, health equity, and human rights.

Key Responsibilities
The intern will work closely with the programme team to support project implementation and coordination.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting programme implementation and tracking deliverables
- Assisting with drafting meeting reports, concept notes and programme documentation
- Coordinating meetings, workshops, webinars and consultations
- Conducting research on health equity and inclusion issues across Africa
- Assisting with social media content and communications material
- Monitoring current events and identifying strategic opportunities for programme visibility
- Supporting knowledge sharing and dissemination of research products
- Assisting with event organisation and programme activities
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelorโs degree
- Currently enrolled in a Masterโs degree programme
- Graduated from a Masterโs degree within the past year
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of additional UN languages is considered an advantage
Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to organise and manage multiple tasks
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within teams
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Office 365

Internship Conditions
Applicants should note the following:
- UNDP internships are unpaid
- Interns are responsible for travel, accommodation and living costs
- Interns must provide proof of health insurance
- Interns must arrange their own visa and travel documentation if required
- Interns cannot apply for UNDP staff positions during the internship period
