The South African Society of Crop Production (SASCP) invites South African students to apply for the SASCP Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

About the Bursary Provider – SASCP

The South African Society of Crop Production (SASCP) was established in 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa by five founding members: DF Retief, SA Hulme, E Strydom, PJ Möhr and PC Nel.

SASCP is a science-based organisation that plays a leading role in crop science research and development. The society promotes research, training, and technology transfer within the agricultural sector. Its mission is to encourage the sustainable management of soil, crops, and the environment.

Members of SASCP are actively involved in research related to oil crops, maize, small grains, and protein seed, contributing to agricultural innovation and food security in South Africa.


SASCP Bursary Programme 2026 – Fields Covered

The SASCP Bursary Programme 2026 provides financial support to students studying within the broad field of Crop Production.

Eligible fields include:

  • Agronomy
  • Crop Science
  • Crop Production and related agricultural studies

Bursaries are available for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies.


SASCP Bursary Value

The bursary value varies depending on the level of study:

  • Undergraduate bursaries: R15 000
  • MSc bursaries: R20 000
  • PhD bursaries: R25 000

These bursaries aim to support students pursuing research and studies that contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture and crop production in South Africa.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before applying:

  • Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying full-time towards an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in a Crop Production-related field (Agronomy or Crop Science)
  • Undergraduate applicants must have completed their first year of study
  • Must be studying at a recognised university in South Africa

Failure to meet these requirements may result in the application not being considered.
